Curious Outpost is a travel-focused online editorial built for thoughtful explorers—those who care as much about how a story is told as where it leads. While the brand already has a logo that they love (designed by the talented fine artist Paz Ulloa), their visual identity and website experience no longer matched their evolving vision.

The brilliant minds behind Curious Outpost (Rebecca and Joe) came to Knight Theory looking for a refined, high-end editorial presence that felt calm, intentional, and effortless to grow.

Week 01

defining narrative direction

We began by clarifying Curious Outpost’s editorial point of view—how stories should unfold, where readers should linger, and how the brand should feel at every scroll.

This foundation informed every design and structural decision that followed.

The goal: for Curious outpost to launch confidently.

Week 02

brand design refinement

While preserving their existing logo, we intentionally softened and elevated the brand’s visual identity through a sophisticated, revamped color palette. By replacing bolder tones with a curated selection of warm neutrals and muted accents, we shifted the aesthetic toward a modern travel editorial style that feels both timeless and clean. This transition was designed to foster a sense of calm and high-end minimalism, ensuring the brand's presence resonates with a discerning audience while providing a versatile backdrop for vibrant travel photography. By focusing on tonal harmony and subtle contrast, we created a premium atmosphere that enhances the storytelling experience and positions the brand as an authoritative yet inviting voice in the travel space.

Week 03

WEBSITE RE-DESIGN

To ensure the brand’s longevity, we completely restructured the digital architecture to guide readers through a deliberate narrative arc, transitioning from the brand’s core perspective into a curated showcase of featured stories. Achieving this level of editorial precision required extensive custom coding to build a vast array of bespoke design elements that move far beyond standard templates. We also executed a data migration, carefully importing and reformatting legacy content from the old website into this new, sophisticated framework to preserve the brand's history while modernizing its flow.

Week 04

Optimization & Scale

To ensure the brand’s longevity and visual integrity, we hosted a hands-on training call for the Curious Outpost team. This transition focused on mastering the custom content management system, allowing them to independently manage and scale future blog posts without compromising the editorial design or user flow. By delivering a brand guideline sheet and explaining technical workflows, we empowered the team to maintain a high-end aesthetic while growing their content library confidently and consistently.

We delivered more than a new look—we provided the strategic roadmap and tools necessary for a high-impact launch. By prioritizing founder support, we ensured the brand could evolve confidently from day one.
